Fellow Spotlight: Monica Delgado
During her fellowship, Monica proved to be a vital asset, driving significant community engagement and operational improvements. She successfully planned and executed a tree adoption event with TreePeople and assisted in coordinating City Plants’ annual Latino Heritage Month and Arbor Day events. Monica demonstrated exceptional dedication by tackling a backlog of thousands of yard tree requests our server registered as incomplete due to missing information. She meticulously updated records to ensure residents received their trees. In her second year, she coordinated multiple tree adoption events and leveraged her data analysis skills to create insightful reports and over 45 GIS maps. A key achievement was developing a compelling StoryMap that showcased the City Plants’ impact for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, which has been shared with the LA Mayor’s Office and City Council Districts to highlight their successful initiatives.
Fellow Spotlight: Izzy Archer
From day one of her fellowship this past fall, Izzy has brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and a deep passion for arboriculture to our team. She was eager to expand her knowledge and support our constituents with all things tree-related—and she’s done exactly that.
Throughout her time with City Plants, Izzy has played a key role in supporting the Enhanced Adoptions program across Los Angeles. She provided residents with personalized tree planting demonstrations and helped them choose the right trees for their unique spaces. She also contributed to data collection and analysis efforts, helping quantify the impact of community planting events—including Arbor Day 2025.
Izzy was instrumental in launching the new P5 program (highlighted earlier in this issue), helping develop a comprehensive guide for conducting residential site assessments.
And in case you didn’t know—she’s also been writing these very newsletters!
