Trees for Your School

Summer Update

Thank you for your interest in greening Los Angeles! Given the heat, City Plants has paused all tree plantings, deliveries, and adoptions over the summer, but we will resume all programming in the fall. Our goal is to plant the right tree in the right place and ensure trees are set up to survive. The best time to plant trees is in the fall, winter, and spring. You can still apply for free trees now, and we will keep your application on record and resume planting, adoptions, and deliveries this fall. While you wait, we encourage you to continue watering and caring for trees in your neighborhood. Thanks for your patience!

Trees make students feel welcome and can even help them learn. If you are a principal or plant manager who wants trees, sign up and we will connect you to one of our non-profit partners to create a plan.

Due to funding restrictions, the number of open space trees we can plant is limited. We get more requests than we can deliver. Priority will go to schools that are in low canopy neighborhoods with strong administrative support and a tree maintenance plan. However, we are always looking for grant funds to plant in schools, so even if we are unable to plant now, we are happy to develop a relationship!
